With the finding of this illegal substance, the drug trafficking organizations stopped receiving about 1,600 million pesos.
A severe blow to the finances of organized armed groups was inflicted by the Colombian Navy in a joint operation with the National Army, coordinated with the National Police and Inter-Agency with the Attorney General's office, in which more than 500 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops being transported by two individuals on board a boat in the Punta Chontaduro sector, on the Guapi River in the municipality of Guapi, Cauca.
The finding occurred thanks to the rapid reaction and effective deployment of Navy infantry troops, who with intelligence information intercepted a boat, apparently belonging to the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, structure 30 Rafael Aguilera, a group that commits crimes under the control of alias Moring; the boat was abandoned by the two individuals.
During the inspection of the ship, the military found 20 bags sealed with a marijuana-like substance inside. They were transported to the command checkpoint of the Navy River Battalion No.42 where units of the Technical Research Corps, CTI, conducted the approved preliminary identification test - PIPH, leaving positive result for 561 kilograms of marijuana.
The illegal merchandise, according to intelligence information, would be transported to Central America; it was put into custody of the authorities.
Colombian Navy is making progress on search, control and security operations along the entire Pacific coast of Colombia to counter the illicit activities of transnational crime organizations and the factors of instability that hit the region. In the same way, it invites the community to denounce drug trafficking criminal organizations by calling the lines 147 and 146 available 24 hours.
