With this new blow to drug trafficking estimated at more than 7.580 million pesos, the Pacific Naval force exceeds the three tons of marijuana found in the first month of the year.

Sea control patrols conducted by the Pacific Naval force through the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station led to find more than 2.6 tons of marijuana, when it was transported on a boat sailing in the sector of the mouths of the Naya River, in the Central Pacific zone.

Guided by Naval intelligence, troops found the suspicious ship that apparently was carrying the drug. The three individuals who crewed the boat, noticing the work of the Coast Guard personnel, tried to flee, but given the rapid reaction of the military, they were arrested.

During the inspection of the ship, 103 bags of different sizes and colors were found, which inside contained 4,850 packages, apparently of drugs. The illegal merchandise and the boat were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where the judicial authorities conducted the initial test giving positive result for 2.641 kilograms of marijuana. In the same way, the individuals were put into custody of the Criminal Investigation group of the National Police.

The marijuana that would have as destination Costa Rica, would be traded illegally, for a cost greater than 7.580 million pesos, about US$ 2,130,000.
