Fulfilling the mission of safeguarding life in our seas and rivers, units of the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Pacific provided humanitarian assistance to four people, who were in an emergency situation, in simultaneous operations in the Departments of Chocó, Nariño and Valle del Cauca.
The first assistance was reported in the municipality of Tumaco-Nariño, where crew members of the Coast Guard platform received a call for help from two fishermen who were on board a drifting boat. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit was deployed for the search and rescue operation, which led to the finding of the corvina type boat, near the Lighthouse “El Viudo”, on the Tumaco sea channel.
Once the health status of the two 43-year-old men identified as Nilson Alberto Preciado and Juan Cortez Sevillano was verified, the boat that presented mechanical failures was towed to the dock of the Tumaco Coast Guard Station.
The second event took place in Buenaventura, where units of the Coast Guard Station of that municipality, faced the Emergency Call made through line 146, requesting the evacuation of a 53-year-old woman who presented an episode of hypertension and required specialized medical assistance, she was taken from the municipality of La Bocana to Buenaventura. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit was deployed to deal with this type of emergency, and the women were transferred in a timely manner.
Upon arriving at the pier, an ambulance coordinated by the Colombian Navy and the District Health Secretariat received the 53-year-old woman identified as Ludivia Murillo Viveros, who was transferred to the Luis Ablanque De La Plata District Hospital, where she is recovering satisfactorily.
Finally, in Noanama – Department of Chocó, a 7-year-old girl who had a puncture wound on her left foot after stepping on three nails, was assisted by a military nurse of the Naval Infantry River Battalion no. 24 attached to the Navy Infantry Brigade No. 2, who provided the first aid, conducted the medical assessment and gave medications to relieve pain and prevent infections.
