In recent hours, in a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, it was possible to capture in the municipality of Galeras, in the department of Sucre, alias "Valenciano" or "Chilapo" who would be the group ringleader of the substructure “Juan José Gaitán” of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in the savanna region of the department of Sucre.
The operation that led to the capture of this criminal was carried out by troops of the Unified operation Group for Personal Liberty - Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Sucre and units of the Intelligence Section - SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE), who thanks to valuable information provided by agents of Intelligence and in compliance with a judicial order issued by the second court of control of guarantees of Riohacha, found and captured this individual on the streets in the urban area of this municipality of Sucre.
Alias "Valenciano" as could be established, would be in charge of extortions against the livestock and merchants' guild and executing selective assassinations in the savanna and Mojana sub-regions of Sucre. This individual is one of the trusted men within the GAO Clan del Golfo and he had a direct line with the ringleader of the structure "Erlyn Pino Duarte" who commits crimes in the Mojana sub-region.
With the capture of this individual, who is in the same way accused of the crimes of conspiracy to commit an aggravated crime for the purposes of homicide, manufacture, trafficking and carrying of firearms and trafficking, manufacturing or carrying of narcotics, it is possible to decisively weaken the logistical and financial structures of this GAO, which commits crimes in this region of the country. The man was put into custody of the judicial authorities.
