Units of the Military Forces of Colombia and the United States are preparing to carry out a bilateral cooperation exercise, in the department of Guajira, which aims to improve humanitarian assistance capabilities and respond to eventual natural disasters and strengthen interoperability of the military forces of the two countries.
In order to conduce the necessary coordination for the exercise, this weekend will be transported equipment and elements, in aircraft of the two countries, to different areas of the department of La Guajira.
The humanitarian exercise, which will take place during the month of March 2020 and has the participation of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Health, seeks to strengthen international cooperation mechanisms that promote medical care and humanitarian mission for the benefit of Colombians.
The protection of the inhabitants in case of emergencies and disasters requires the participation of the Military Forces in accordance with our differential capabilities with human and logistic resources, which leads to provide immediate assistance in a risk situation, a natural disaster or other catastrophe. These humanitarian cooperation exercises strengthen our response to these types of events.
