"We will not give truce to drug trafficking, we will face it with determination"

• “We are not going to give any truce to drug trafficking; we will face it with determination, because our country will not led this crime to continue to be a factor that destabilizes the regions and that attacks citizens' freedoms,” said the Head of State in Tumaco.

• Corvette captain Juan Camilo Ocaña, who participated in a confiscation of drugs, reported that “60 miles northwest of the coast of Nariño, here in Tumaco, we intercepted a Go Fast boat type Flipper, manufactured Ecuadorian, which had three people on board, who intended to take this illicit substance to the coasts of Central America.”

In Tumaco, President Iván Duque Márquez highlighted the discovery of a ton of high-purity cocaine that was transported in a boat bound for Central America, which he described as a “very hard blow to the drug cartels operating in this region"

“In a heroic, meticulous and decisive operation, where our Navy, our Police, our Air Force and our National Army have been participating, it was possible to conduct the interception of a Flipper boat, which was carrying about a ton of high purity cocaine”, said the Head of State, who highlighted that the value of the alkaloid is close to 30 million dollars.

When giving details of the operation, carried out, according to the National Navy, 60 miles of the seaport of Tumaco, the president said that the Flipper boat “had a double bottom, with a degree of sophistication so that they use to carry that drug to other markets ”.

In the same way, he highlighted that with the discovery of this drug it is demonstrated that the Colombian authorities continue to make progress not only in dealing with illegal plantations, but that “we are becoming more successful in interdiction”.

In that sense, President Duque was emphatic in saying that “we are not going to give any truce to drug trafficking; we are going to face it with determination, because our country will not led this crime to continue to be a factor that destabilizes the regions and that attacks citizens' freedoms ”.

Finding Details

On the operation that led to the interception of the ship and the discovery of the illegal substance, corvette captain Juan Camilo Ocaña reported that the intelligence work was carried out by the National Police for more than a week, with the support of the Air Force, the Coast Guard Unit of the National Navy and the Special Brigade against the Drug Trafficking of the Army.

"60 miles northwest of the coast of Nariño, here in Tumaco, we intercepted a Go Fast Flipper boat, Ecuadorian manufacture, which carried three people on board who wanted to take this illicit substance to the coasts of Central America" , the Navy officer reported.

"Thanks to the arduous operation and training of our men, we managed to make a safe procedure and in the framework of the law we managed to bring them to port and conduct the judicial process," said Captain Ocaña, who added that this year the National Navy has found more than 122 tons of cocaine.
