The permanent military operations carried out by the National Army, and the intelligence work of the Artillery Battalion No.3 ‘Batalla de Palacé’ of the Third Brigade, led to the discovery and destruction of two gas cylinders loaded with explosives.
These devices were found by troops during search and control operations in the rural area of the municipality of Guacarí, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
After the security protocols, the explosives and demolition team - Exde, destroyed the two gas cylinders safely, counteracting the threat that this type of unconventional weapons represents for the population.
According to information provided by the community, the devices had been planted in that area for several months, putting the life and physical condition of the passers-by at risk.
The troops of the Third Brigade maintain checkpoints on the roads and carry out permanent surveillance with a motorized squad, with the purpose of guaranteeing day and night the safety of the inhabitants of the Valle del Cauca department.
