The National Army achieves the neutralization of a terrorist operation, the discovery of four drugs laboratories and the voluntary surrender of three individuals

In operations conducted by troops of the Military and Police Campaign Titan, it was possible the neutralization of a terrorist operation, the discovery of four drugs laboratories and the voluntary surrender of three individuals belonging to the ELN in the department of Chocó.

The first event, the neutralization of a terrorist operation, was possible thanks to information provided by the Civic Participation Network. There it was established that individuals of the Ernesto Che Guevara front of that organized armed group were traveling by boat on the Urabara River in the Juntas de Tamaná sector, in Nóvita, with the aim of carrying out a criminal act to hit the inhabitants of this zone.

It is there when the troops, who were in the area, blocked this criminal conduct and a firefight takes place. There, unfortunately, the 29-year-old soldier David Pertuz is killed. In the pursuit, despite the previous action of that structure that took the life of one of their comrades, the military, in accordance with the institutional policies of respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, captured one of the GAO’s member and they provide him with primary care, establishing that they had no injuries. Subsequently, he was put into custody of the authorities.

This individual was found with a firearm, ammunition, military accessories, flags and posters alluding to this criminal organization, which they intended to use during the terrorist operation that was neutralized by the Army.

The lifeless body of Soldier David Pertuz, was taken to his home municipality, where he will be honored. The family of this hero of the country, has counted on the support of the National Army since the first moment.

The second result took place in the municipalities of Carmen del Darién and Riosucio north of Chocó. In response to the recommendations made by the Ombudsman's Office in the Early Alerts 019, 027 and 068 of 2018, military operations were deployed in this region, achieving the discovery of four laboratories of coca base paste. In these places, 404 gallons of liquid precursors and 348 kilos of solid precursors were found, as well as other elements used in this crime. These sites, belonging three of them to the GAO Clan del Golfo and one to the Eln, were destroyed.

Finally, three members of that same Organized Armed Group voluntarily looked for the troops of the National Army, arguing that they did not want to continue committing crimes and also that they wanted the benefit the law could eventually grant them. Among individuals belonging to the substructures Néstor Tulio Durán, Manuel Hernández El Boche, there would be a militia chief who committed crimes in Juradó; this also surrendered a firearm.

So far in 2019, 29 narcotics laboratories have been found in the department of Chocó, 27 voluntary surrenders have been received and 65 members of Organized armed groups have been captured; nine minors of age who had been recruited by force, had been recovered.

These results confirm the progress that the military operations conducted by the National Army in the different regions of the department of Chocó which are attacking, harming and weakening the different crime phenomena.
