Young Colombians interested in training as military or police officer, may benefit of the State Policy of Free Academic Tuition for Access Education.

The dream of making a career in the Military Forces is now at the hand of the most vulnerable young people, thanks to the signing of Decree 1907.

The Minister of Defense and the Ministry of Finance signed a decree to provide free access to training as a military and police officer, through free academic tuition.

In total today there are about 12 thousand students who will benefit from free tuition to train as military and police officers, for an estimated cost of 35 thousand million pesos.

As part of the fulfillment of its promise to strengthen the Military Forces in its human talent, its legitimacy and its resources to support the transformation of the territories, the National Government signed Decree 1907 of November 10, 2023, which regulates the state policy of free enrollment in Military Forces training schools.

The aforementioned decree was built in compliance with Laws 2155 of 2021 - Social Investment Law-, and 2294 of 2023, by which the National Development Plan 2022 – 2026 Colombia Potencia de la Vida - World power of life, was issued.

Students who are currently studying an academic program to enter the military or police career at any of the Military Forces training schools, and who meet the requirements to be beneficiaries of this decree, will receive free academic tuition for the number of periods remaining to complete the corresponding program. In total today there are about 12 thousand students who will benefit, for an estimated budget of $35 billion pesos.

Now, young people of the most socioeconomically vulnerable families and who are classified at level IV of the Sisben, will have the possibility to study for free the academic program of technical, technological and professional training that corresponds to the military or police career provided by the training schools of the Military Forces and the National Police, with the purpose of following a life project at the service of the country of the officialdom or non-officialdom of the Military Forces.
