According to military intelligence information, these individuals had been sent by alias El Mono Ferney, head of finance of that criminal structure, to steal vehicles in Norte de Santander, in order to be taken to the department of Arauca, and thus have mobility to continue the war with the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN.
Thanks to the hard work of military intelligence and with the support of the civic participation network, National Army troops, in a rapid reaction, arrested six alleged criminals, apparently members of the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure Martín Villa. These individuals would have the order to go to the department of Arauca to continue to have the war they engage there against the GAO ELN, as well as attacks against the Military Forces.
Upon learning of the movement of these criminals, a military operation was carried out on the way la Soberanía. There they were required by the permanent operation checkpoint being carried out near the facilities of the La Virgen Military Base, in the municipality of Toledo, Norte de Santander. After a thorough search of the vehicles, five pistols, 108 units of ammunition, six magazines and seven cell phones were found by troops; three vans and a motorcycle in which they were traveling were in the same way found. These vehicles had been reported stolen.
The arrested are four Colombians and two Venezuelans. They include alias El Veneco, 20 years old, and a Venezuelan, and alias Damian, 39-year-old, who was under house arrest order issued by the court of Arauca for the crime of rebellion. In the same way, troops also captured alias La Monja, a Colombian, 19, who according to military intelligence belong to the network of illegal finances of the Structure Tenth; with a criminal history of over 10 years in the terrorist organization, he would be in charge of murders, blackmail and terror in Norte de Santander.
The evidentiary material together with the arrested were put into custody of the competent authorities to carry out the prosecution process. These individuals must face charges of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition, aggravated theft and association to commit crimes according to criminal law.
The vans were put into custody of the authorities to be handed over to their real owners.
