More than 30 tons of humanitarian aid will be transported this weekend, aboard a ship of the Colombian Navy, from Buenaventura, to be distributed to the hit indigenous families in Pichima.

The Colombian Navy through the Pacific Naval Force continues to carry out operations in Pichimá, Chocó, to protect the indigenous communities that traveled to the municipality of Docordó, due to clashes conducted by the Organized Armed Group ELN and the Residual Organized Armed Group front 30, who dispute the control of drug trafficking routes in the area.

As said by Willinton Ibarguen Posso, Mayor of Docordó, around 420 indigenous people represented in 97 families of the community of Pichimá Quebrada, have moved to this municipality, to prevent being hit by these armed clashes.

During the meeting, the local and regional authorities, control institutions and state agencies recognized the quick and timely reaction of the Military Forces to act against these Organized Armed Groups. In the same way they highlighted the high level of commitment on the part of the Mayor's Office of Docordó to timely serve the displaced community, who were received in three shelters arranged for their protection.

It is worth noting, the commitment to the activation of a humanitarian route to distribute more than 30 tons of humanitarian aid, which will be embarked during this weekend aboard a ship of the Navy of Colombia, in the port of Buenaventura, and will transport the aid to the municipality of Docordó, to finally distributed it to the 97 hit families.

The Colombian Navy, through the Pacific Naval Force, maintains its Surface Units, troops and aircraft deployed in the area, to reinforce security, carry out sustained operations and consolidate the presence of the Marine Infantry personnel, which leads to protect the indigenous communities, as well as counteracting the criminal operations of these Organized Armed Groups.

This is how, as in the last three days, during search and control operations near the community of Pichima, the discovery and destruction of two camp areas that had recently been abandoned and could hold up to 40 bandits, have been achieved.

This Friday, June 7, an expanded transactional justice committee will be held in the municipality of Docordó, to verify each of the commitments acquired by the institutions and so quickly assist indigenous families.
