Finding of more than one ton of cocaine in waters of the Colombian South Pacific

2_1.jpg

The Colombian Navy, in a joint operation with the National Army and combined with the United States government, made the discovery of 1,043 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were beng transported by three individuals aboard a speedboat, in Mosquera, in the department of Nariño.

Thanks to information from Naval Intelligence and the National Army, with the support of an aircraft of the United States, a ship that had left the Nicaraguan coasts for Costa Rica was detected. Immediately, units of the Navy of Colombia that maintain operations against drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific, moved to the area, to make the closure to the route of the boat.

Noticing the presence of the authorities, the three crew of the boat, with no name or registration, decided to return to the coast and prevent the detention, but after a long chase they were intercepted and captured with the stash, consisting of 21 sacks containing rectangular blocks of alkaloid.

The three captured and the material found were taken to the municipality of Tumaco and put into custody of the corresponding authorities. The Technical Investigation Corps of the Office of the Prosecutor made a Preliminary Identification Test - Piph, to the substance in the packages, giving positive for 1,043 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

The three individuals, one of Ecuadorian nationality and two Colombian, must face indictments of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotics.

So far this year, the Pacific Naval Force has found more than 45 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, preventing drug trafficking organizations from receiving nearly 1,500 million dollars.
