2,025 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, whose cost would rise to more than 67 million dollars in the illegal market, were transported to Central America in a semi submarine and a speedboat by drug trafficking organizations. These means of transportation were intercepted, in waters of the Pacific, during a combined operation conducted by the Navy of Colombia with air and maritime Units of the United States and Panama, which led to the capture of nine individuals.
The two operations carried out in parallel, were carried out in the framework of the maritime cooperation agreement conducted by the Governments of Colombia and the United States, as well as the cooperation agreement with Panama to fight the transnational crime of drug trafficking.
It should be recalled that in the first operation, carried out by a ship of the Pacific Naval Force with a maritime unit of the Aeronaval Service of Panama, a semi-submarine-type ship, manned by three individuals, two Colombians and one Ecuadorian, transporting 43 sacs to Central America, was intercepted.
In the parallel operation, an aircraft of the United States detected two ships in Pacific waters that transported packets, apparently with alkaloid. Once the Colombian Navy was informed, a ship of the Pacific Naval Force intercepted the boat manned by three Colombians who returned to the coast; troops seized fuel, communication elements and others.
The other boat with the illegal merchandise, named 'Virgen del Carmen', manned by two Colombians and an Ecuadorian, was intercepted by a United States Maritime Unit and another of the Colombian Navy, finding 26 sacks inside with alkaloids.
The semi submarine and the two boats, with the 69 sacks that according to their characteristics, apparently corresponded to alkaloids, were taken to a ship of the Navy of Colombia, later directed towards the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño, where the Preliminary Initial Test gave positive results for 2,025 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The individuals and the materials were put into custody of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation.
With this operation, the Colombian Navy prevented more than 67 million dollars from entering the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in this region.
