During operations carried out by the Quiron Task Force in the area known as Malvinas, rural area of the municipality of Tame, in the department of Arauca, soldiers of the Eighteenth Brigade captured an individual and a woman who are identified as members of the Organized Armed Group GAO- Eln. It is the second ringleader and his partner who are part of the group Compañero Tomas of the Eln.
The military operation took place when the couple was traveling on a motorcycle on the road that leads to the municipality of Tame, when they were surprised by the soldiers, an armed confrontation took place. The woman was wounded and immediately received first aid from military personnel.
Alias Santiago, 25 years old, with eight years in the organization, was in charge of extortions against farmers and merchants of the Malvinas, Naranjitos, Laguna, Tranquila, Altamira, Angosturas, Cabalalia, and Caño Grande of the municipality of Tame.
The woman, 21, is the sentimental partner of alias Santiago, she is known as “Nicole”, she is part of the network of support of terrorism of this criminal structure two months ago; she carried out criminal intelligence on the troops in the capital city Arauca and received the extortion payments in the hamlets of the municipality of Tame.
At the time of the captures they had in their possession a 9 mm caliber pistol, a magazine for the same, 16 cartridges and important documents of the organization. These persons were put into custody of the authority to carry out the judicial process.
