Divers of the National Navy detect drugs in underwater inspection

With the Plan "Bahia Segura", the Pacific Naval Force, through the Diving and Salvage Station in the port of Buenaventura, has managed to inspect 48% of international vessels, preventing any attempt to contaminate ships with illicit substances and the possible execution of terrorist activities and common crime.

In order to provide comprehensive maritime security in the Colombian Pacific port facilities and promote licit commercial development, through the interinstitutional synergy of the public and private sectors, the National Navy conducts the "Bahia Segura" Plan through which it found 120 alkaloid packages that were in the submerged structure of a containers ship in Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca.

Divers of the National Navy found in the containers ship "Corneliuis Maersk" that had as destination the port of Manzanillo in Mexico, four black sacs that were submerged and tied to the stabilizing fins on the left side. The sacks were extracted finding 120 alkaloid packages inside.

The cache was taken to the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura where the judicial authorities carried out the Preliminary Identification Test - Piph, giving positive for 120 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

Since the launching of the "Bahia Segura" Plan at the beginning of November, the Pacific Naval Force, through the Coast Guard Divers and Salvage Station of Buenaventura, has managed to inspect 48% of international departures, preventing the organized transnational crime groups from using maritime routes as the main means of transport drugs and the realization of terrorist activities and common crime, which threaten the security and protection of the maritime and port activity of Buenaventura.
