This result occurred in the border zone of the northern and lower Cauca subregions after a combat, which in the same way led to the capture of alias Daniel, a member of that criminal structure.
In the framework of the Plan Diamante Plus and thanks to the coordinated work carried out by the National Army and the National Police in the municipality El Zapatillo, in the municipality of Valdivia, north of the department of Antioquia, a large amount of war materiel and military garments belonging to the front "Julio César Vargas” of the GAO Clan del Golfo was seized after a firefight.
This military operation led to the capture of alias 'Daniel', a member of that criminal structure, who operates in areas bordering the municipalities of Valdivia, Tarazá and Cáceres and commits crimes to obtain profits from the commercialization of coca base paste and extortions of money against peasants in the region.
After the firefight that produced the capture of alias 'Daniel', who was wounded and later evacuated to Medellin to be attended by qualified medical personnel, war materiel and military garments were found by the troops of the Infantry Battalion No. 10 'Coronel Atanasio Girardot', the Unit responsible for the military operation. Three rifles, 1,300 cartridges for rifle, six magazines, four multipurpose vests, six camouflaged uniforms of exclusive use of the Colombian Military Forces, four camouflaged fabrics, two tactical briefcases, two cell phones, four sim cards and six USB memories were found by the troops.
With the discovery of this abundant material of war and military garments the component of war of the front "Julio Cesar Vargas" of the GAO Clan del Golfo is hit directly, since that structure loses an important part of the armament with which it carries out its illicit activities of extortion and manufacture and sale of coca base paste.
It is important to point out that alias Daniel and what was found were put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 74 of Medellín for its judicial process. This year, the Fourth Brigade and its military units have captured 177 members of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
