After a chase for more than 40 minutes, the Colombian Navy, within the framework of comprehensive maritime control and security operations, intercepted a ship that was crewed by four individuals, three Colombians and a Nicaraguan, who, apparently, were planning to transport more than three tons of narcotics to Central America, in waters adjacent to the department of Choc贸.
The procedure began when a Colombian Navy ship in the area, detected through its radars, a ship traveling suspiciously, 180 nautical miles of the municipality of Bah铆a Solano, in the department of Choc贸. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Bah铆a Solano Coast Guard Station, together with an aircraft of the Interagency Joint Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States - JIATFS, moved to the place to make the interception.
Despite the attempts to escape, the authorities intercepted the suspicious ship, finding on board four individuals carrying 137 sacks of different shapes and sizes that, due to their characteristics, would resemble illicit substances, in addition to 10 barrels with fuel.
The difficult climatic conditions in the area caused cracks in the structure of the boat, which caused its sinking; however, thanks to the quick operation of the Colombian Sailors, it was possible to rescue the individuals and recover the material.
