During the procedure, the authorities found war materiel and military accessories.
In a powerful operation carried out by the Colombian Navy, in the municipality of La Tola, department of Nariño, four alleged members of the Residual Organized Armed Group – residual GAO, Alfonso Cano, who had war materiel and military accessories in their possession, were arrested in flagrante delicto.
The procedure took place in the village of San Pablo de la Mar, in La Tola, where troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 43, after receiving intelligence information that alerted about the activity of armed men in the area. During the operation, the members of the Military Forces arrested four individuals, who had in their possession five rifles of different calibers, two 16-mm shotguns, 1,916 cartridges, 26 magazines and communication equipment, as well as clothing for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
It is presumed that these individuals would be involved in illicit activities such as drug trafficking, extortion, kidnappings for extortion purposes and theft, generating fear among the inhabitants of this area of the Colombian South Pacific.
Those arrested, whose ages range from 26 to 37 years, and the war material found, were put into custody of the National Police, to face charges for the alleged crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or illegal possession of firearms.
