Thanks to the Comprehensive Wellbeing Policy, the ordinary food item had an increase of 57.74%, going from $10,581 COP, in 2022, to $16,691 COP for 2023.

“Men and women of the Military Forces and the Police must have the best possible living conditions, it is one of the purposes of this Government”: Minister of Defense.

During the lunch with the soldiers, the Minister of Defense verified that everything was in optimal conditions with the increase in food for the soldiers, thanks to the Comprehensive Wellbeing Policy.

In order to verify the economic increase made in the food item for the members of the Military Forces, the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez Gómez, shared time with the soldiers of the security company, who serve their military service in facilities of the CAN complex.

Accompanied by the military commanders and the vice minister of veterans and the Social and Business Group of the Defense, the Minister had lunch with the young soldiers, from whom he heard firsthand how they have benefited of the monetary increase in their food item.

When talking to the soldiers of all the branches, the head of the Ministry of Defense was satisfied to hear that the men have breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner, to provide their perimeter security service in the facilities of the military complex, under decent conditions.

“I am satisfied with everything I have heard now, it is a purpose of the government with the military and police commanders, that the men and women of the Military Forces have the best possible living conditions,” the Minister said.

In the dining room of the CAN complex, approximately 300 soldiers of the National Army, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force are fed.

Among the diners, there was one of the beneficiaries of the Wellbeing Policy, the Navy man, Sebastián Cepeda Robayo, who said that this increase was important for him and his companions: “Our diet improved significantly, increasing our well-being and our morale, leading us to fulfill our mission in the best way.”

The Minister in the same way referred to the education benefits that the Policy in the same way contemplates, including granting an undergraduate degree at a professional technical level; making basic and secondary education literacy programs more flexible, among others.

“May all the members of the Military Forces and the National Police finish primary, secondary, technical studies, but in the same way university studies,” Velásquez said.

For the Government, as the Minister said it, everything that is raised in the Wellbeing Policy leads to motivate that soldiers continue with their military career, so that they really have a “will to stay, that they will have the best living conditions for them and their families, with the aim of promoting themselves as people,” he concluded.

The Policy includes improvements in comprehensive health care and the provision of services, including health centers and hospitals network, modernization in the technological and scientific capacity of the own Military Health Network, Police Health, and the Central Military Hospital.
