National Army neutralizes explosive devices in Teorama, Norte de Santander

cogfm-ejc-ftv-neutraliza-explosivos-norte-santander-01.gif

The explosive charges would be triggered by means of launch against the civilian population and members of the National Army.

Troops of the Vulcano Task Force, in the rural area of the municipality of Teorama, in the department of Norte de Santander, achieved the neutralization of three explosive devices belonging to the Organized Armed Group GAO-Eln, Company ‘Heroes del Catatumbo’.

Through search and area control operations, carried out by troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.8, it was possible to establish that the “Tatuco” type explosive devices were in the middle of the undergrowth in the Caño Seco village, in San Pablo, municipality of Teorama.

Once the situation was known, the Explosives and Demolitions Group (EXDE) activated the security protocols for the destruction of explosive charges under controlled conditions, thus preventing collateral damage.

According to intelligence information and the civic participation network, these devices were intended to be used to hit the civilian population and the Security forces.

The use of such improvised explosive devices violates Human Rights and violates International Humanitarian Law through the use of unconventional means and methods of war expressly prohibited in the different international treaties and protocols.
