The president of the Republic, Ivan Duque Marquez, confirmed that in an operation of the National Police and Military Forces, in coordination with the Attorney General office, was neutralized the fourth ringleader of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, identified as Darío Úsuga Torres, alias Pueblo.
"This is a heavy blow against Clan del Golfo, since this man, due to his familiarity with alias Otoniel and his criminal background of more than 20 years, was part of the Estado Mayor of that criminal organization since 2018, and was in charge of drug trafficking and managing drug routes", said Defense Minister Holmes Trujillo.
He added that, after an intelligence operation, alias Pueblo, who was cousin of alias Otoniel, was neutralized in an operation by the National Police, the colombian Air Force and the National Army in the framework of Agamemnon II Operation, in the rural area of Las Pavas, in the municipality of Mutatá, in Antioquia.
Alias Pueblo was the fourth ringleader of the Clan del Golfo and was in charge of coordinating the substructure Carlos Vasquez. His functions were to finance the structures of this criminal organization in Norte de Santander, La Guajira and Llanos Orientales, by sending money from the cocaine hydrochloride trafficking to Europe and the United States.
This neutralization hits the line of command of Clan del Golfo, since he is the first ringleader of the Estado Mayor front to be neutralized since 2018. This Organized Armed Group loses the continuity in the chain of command of its main drug trafficking ringleaders, as well as the positioning of middle chiefs in strategic positions, appointed by alias Otoniel.
