In the framework of a military operation it was possible to find abundant war material, military accessories and communications; in the same way troops reported the death in the framework of military operations of that who would be the bodyguard of the main ringleader of the Magdalena Medio Structure, Olivero Ramón Isaza of the GAO Clan del Golfo.
Within the framework of military operations aimed at protecting the inhabitants and contributing to the security of the territory, troops of the Fourth Brigade, with the support of specialized intelligence units of Colombian National Army and in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, engaged combats against members of the Magdalena Medio Structure, of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the village of El Porvenir, municipality of Sonsón, in the department of Antioquia.
During the operation, it was possible the neutralization of alias 24, who would be the main bodyguard of alias Hugo, who would have assumed as the main ringleader of the structure several months ago. In the same way, it was possible to arrest three alleged members of the structure at the scene of the events. In the same way, it was possible to find 6 rifles, 2 submachineguns, 5 pistols, a fragmentation grenade, a tear gas grenade, 12 magazines for pistol, 6 magazines for submachinegun, 46 magazines 7 communication radios, abundant ammunition, military accessory material and several cell phones.
It is important to inform that during the judicial procedure a sedition occurred on the part of the inhabitants of the sector, apparently pressured by this illegal armed group, where more than 500 people violently attacked the soldiers and the officials of the Prosecutor's Office, altering the place of the facts taking the individual killed in the framework of military operations, the arrested and the evidentiary material. At the same time the people carried out the burning of 3 official vehicles, the damage of several motorcycles that were at the service of community security, causing personal injuries to one of the soldiers and kidnapping an officer, 3 non-commissioned officers and 12 soldiers. Through these results of the military operation, the aim is to reduce the factors of instability in the East of Antioquia, neutralizing ringleaders who seek to sow terror in the region.
Colombian National Army will continue to carry out joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, in order to weaken the resources of the threats that attack the security and tranquility of the people of Antioquia and denunciations will be filed with the authorities.
