Minister of Defense, Diego Molano Aponte, assured that micro-trafficking “is not a problem of a jíbaro [small seller] or a small local group, it is a mega-business that involves even today these Organized Armed Groups, such as the Clan del Golfo.”

This was stated by the Minister, during the forum Good practices in the Fight against Micro-Trafficking, led by the directorate of Citizen Security of the Ministry of Defense in which a report bearing the same name of the forum was published, and where the results, opportunities and challenges on micro-trafficking in the country are announced.

“This document becomes an analysis tool by the Directorate of Citizen Security, because it presents the control processes and good behaviors, in situations of security and the fight against crime,” said the Minister, who in the same way explained that the micro trafficking business uses drug trafficking surpluses to pay their networks or support points and thus commit despicable acts such as the Pistol Plan against the Police.

According to Minister Molano, the results in terms of citizen security, within the framework of the 1,000 Plan against Micro trafficking, have been very important with the arrest of more than 28 thousand members of local drug trafficking structures and more than 11 million doses found. “We have prevented, from a young person to a family, from getting involved in the evil circle of drug consumption and trafficking, overthrowing the walls of micro-trafficking and building walls of hope.”

The Minister in the same way highlighted how from his administration it was in the same way possible to support more than 6,500 security fronts and recognized the coordinated work of citizens with the authorities.

On the other hand, the director of public Safety, Miguel Parra, said that this report, who worked hand-in-hand with Asocapitales, was seeking to define what the local issues and challenges in the fight against the problem of microtrafficking in the different cities of the country, “we found four practices that are fundamental, one of them is the inter-agency coordination, which is part of the prevention of consumption of narcotic drugs; the other, the realization of most wanted posters of for microtrafficking; in the same way, the improvement of environments and the creation of spaces and institutions that promote citizen security.”

Finally, the Minister of Defense assured that this is a work plan based on the promotion of a dialogue with citizens, where it seeks to collect the main findings, good practices and recommendations in the fight against microtrafficking throughout the national territory.
